All about the Gorgeous and Speedy Lamborghini

Lamborghini, one of the most scintillating car brands from Italy is adored by the every car aficionado around the planet. Lamborghini also affectionately called as the Lambo, is a legendary brand that needs no introduction anywhere in the world. Lamborghini, the other name for speed is designed with irresistible design that cannot go unnoticed even in a crowd. Officially known as Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A, it is the creator of one of the most exhilarating sports cars in the world.

Anyone would love to read some interesting facts of a super car that has sprinkled its motorized magic on everyone.
Lamborghini came into existence in the year 1963 and the firm is named after its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, an Italian. The Lamborghini factory is situated in a small village called Sant'Agata Bolognese in Italy.

Before entering into the world of super luxury sports car, Ferruccio Lamborghini was into manufacturing tractors. As he was a sports car fan, he pampered himself with various kinds of high-performing cars which included Maseratis and Ferraris. But this self made man was neither happy nor satisfied with their sports car.

Ferruccio started experiencing clutch problems with his Ferrari 250 GT and decided to visit Enzo Ferrari. But the Ferrari boss did not have time for this tractor manufacturer and plainly sent him away.

Ferruccio, fuming with anger decided than and there itself to develop a perfect sports car all by himself. Soon he was accompanied by talented people like Gian Paolo, Granco Scaglione and they were soon working on a car model.

A new all aluminum engine was developed which produced an impressive output of 350 bhp. The prototype of the Lamborghini called as Lamborghini "350 GTV was unveiled at the Turin Auto Show in 1963.

The Lamborghini 350 GTV was launched commercially and it experienced outstanding success. More than 130 units were built in that year and it was a complete sell out.

Lamborghini 350GTV was a speed monster with a top speed of 280 km/h. The very next year a smaller version of the same model was launched called 350GT which delivered a top speed of 240 km/h. In 1974 another model called Countach was unveiled and this beast could clock above 300 km/h.

Initially the Lamborghini started out as an autonomous company but today it is a part of German company Audi AG. In 1978, Lamborghini filed for bankruptcy and an Italian court was handed over the responsibility to find a buyer. Finally Mimran Brother's, a Swiss based company decided to own it.

Though things were going on smoothly, the Mimran Brothers decided to sell the company to Chrysler. Under the new ownership, the successor of Countach, the Diablo made its appearance in the international scene.

But lady success seem to distance herself from Chrysler and in 1994, the company was forced to sell brand Lamborghini to an Indonesian investment group headed by Tommy Suharto (son of Suharto, former Indonesian president). But luck failed there too and as a result of economic crisis in 90's, Lamborghini was taken over by the German car manufacturer Audi in 1998.

Audi, after taking over Lamborghini, completely focused on the brand and started designing the Murcielago model. Audi was successful in bringing back the Lamborghini fame by producing more exotic models.

Le Mans version Murcielago R-GT is considered to be one of the fastest Lamborghini model which is said to have attained the top speed of 370 km/h, whereas the road version of the same model called Murcielago LP640 delivers high speed of 340 km/h. Both the versions are powered by an above 6.0-litre V12 engine.

The latest models of Lamborghini are seen with the scissor doors that can be turned upward and forward on a hinge itself. Lamborghini models like Countach, Diablo (now discontinued) and the Murcielago have scissor doors but Gallardo model is not enhanced with it.

Every Lamborghini model is seen with a powerful V8 or above engines. The production of V8 engine was stopped long back in 1989. In the long and successful journey we have seen the legendary V12 engine. But the latest model Gallardo is seen with a V10 engine.

Lamborghini is not just associated with super sports cars but also with marine engines.

Lamborghini has given birth to amazing models like a four-seat Espada and various V8 sports cars, but it is the mid-engine mounted supercars that popularized the brand. Wild players like Countach and the Diablo of the 1990s received instant recognition as Lamborghini cars.

Today Lamborghini stands in a very high position with its superior, outstanding quality and also carries one of the most expensive price tags. It radiates sophistication, class and pride.

The man behind the making of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini passed away in 1993 at the age of 77. But he is still remembered and the company lives on.
