Buyers want the Best

The stratification of cars has become much more rigid with the booming car industry. The present car with numerous features does not meet the expectations of buyers. Car buyers are looking for more in a car. It is a human nature the more you get, the more you urge for.

It has been noticed that the graph of entry level sedans and C segment cars is growing rapidly. Indian car buyers also want to have features that are available in other developed countries. And they are ready to pay more for it. Take the case of success of Skoda which dished out typical European cars for Indian market. It has never complained about affordability being an issue. But small car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Honda Siel Cars India and General Motors have noticed that the market for fully loaded cars is growing rapidly.

Maruti Suzuki sells more number of high end variant of the popular small car Alto than other variants. The sales of Alto LXi are as much as 60 percent of the total Alto sales. Even, 60 percent of the Zen Estilo is recorded in the top end variant LXi model. Similarly the reports coming from sales of Wagon R. While the top end variant of small cars sells high, so do the costlier SX4, Swift and Swift Dzire models. The difference in base and top end is very high in Maruti Suzuki. In the case of Alto the difference between the base model and top end LXi is around Rs 50,000. The same difference persists with the other models also.

This trend is noticeable only in small cars as the difference in variants is not much. Considering the features offered and the prices difference, it makes sense to buy a high end small car. The trend in sedans also shows that convenience and luxurious features continue to be preferred. Ford India has reported that it sells more number of middle-level variant than any other. Ford India, which has a strong presence in C Segment with Ikon, Fiesta and Fusion models, has reported that even fully loaded versions sell more than base models.

The buyers in premium sedans want as much convenience and luxury factors that can be packed into their desired car. People are constantly upgrading to higher segments and want the best in that segment. Those who want the latest aftermarket gadgets go for the middle-level variants, while ensuring that they are not loosing out on any of the good features.

Though the M800 is drive by millions of people in India, the buyers are not satisfied with the features. Indian is rapidly moving from the M800 mould to more sophisticated cars. As people here are technology savvy, they are ready for more fun in cars than before.
