It is not only the scenario of Indian auto industry but the whole world. As the cars are increasingly becoming ubiquitous occupying every nook and corner of the city, environment is facing a great threat and is at the receiving end. Carbon spewing vehicles have polluted the environment by not leaving any place for fresh air and disturbing the ecological balance.

A study conducted by some expert environmentalists proved that cars are playing a vital role in polluting environment and they are also contributing immensely in choking of surrounding healthy atmosphere and ideal environment by discharging carbon.

Not only environmental issue, but also soaring oil prices have made the all global car manufacturers to think about green cars or hybrid car which are known as eco-friendly cars to fight against environmental issue which is turning out to be a universal issue.

Realizing the severity of the situation, car manufacturers are giving more importance to less polluting cars than ultra-low coast cars. Recently concluded Auto expo at New Delhi saw a series of hybrid cars being displayed on by many car manufacturers.

But Geneva Motor Show, which is usually considered to be most crucial for global car manufacturers to flaunt their vehicles, witnessed highest number of green cars lined up to be unveiled than ever this time. It is interesting to know that car manufacturers concern to the growing pollution problem is manifested and felt in the Geneva motor show.

Just like Nano shined at Auto expo similarly green cars have stolen the Geneva motor show and dominated it as many car manufacturers paraded with their future hybrid and green cars in the show. It gave an indication that most of the cars in our city roads will be green cars in nearing future.

Many car companies who have rocked the previous Geneva show by introducing different types of sedans, small cars, coupe, sports car and SUVs, this time have surprised the car lovers and pleased environmentalists by displaying great sense of responsibility towards controlling increasing pollution after unveiling their future green cars. Many car manufacturers who have so for confined themselves to make luxury gas guzzlers, joined the bandwagon of green car makers.

Fiat has displayed the Abarth 500, a high-powered version of the Fiat 500 city car; Renault displayed sports versions of the Clio and Twingo green cars. Toyota walked away with iQ, a tiny hybrid four-seater to be introduced in this year.

Besides, several other new SUV's with hybrid engines also made their appearance in the show. Renault has presented Koleos and Ford has showcased Kuga five-seat crossover model and Nissan's Infinity FX luxury sport utility vehicle Volkswagen has unveiled the Scirocco, a third-generation version of a model while Nissan Motor came with its GT-R sports car. Saab has revealed 9-X Bio Hybrid, low-slung concept car. Besides the German automaker Daimler exhibited a prototype Mercedes SUV, BlueTEC Hybrid. List of green cars displayed in the show goes on as out of 130 vehicles being displayed in the show, most of them were Green cars. So with many global car manufacturers joining the green cars bandwagon would give an indication that most of the cars in our city roads will be green cars in nearing future.
