Deeply tinted windows improve air conditioning performance. It also provides protection from blazing sunrays. The front windscreen can be coated with transparent heat resistance films for cooler interiors. They don't hamper visibility and are good for drives in mountainous hilly regions.

Very few car manufacturers actually recommend or supply good quality window films. However the aftermarket is flooded with window films, but choosing the right one is difficult. A good quality window film will block 94 per cent of infra-red radiation and 99 per cent of harmful ultraviolet light that causes skin cancers. Ensure that your buy does not violate local laws on in-and out visibility.

Ensure that you choose the film with high reflection and deep shade. Plain windows without tint reflect only 5 percent of light and transmit 90 per cent into the vehicle, while the glass absorbs another five percent. Comparatively, in a tinted window, the reflected light will be as high as 30 percent and the transmitted light could be as little as 15 percent. The tint also keeps the glass from heating and cracking. Thus the damage by sunlight is effectively contained.
