Top 7 Quality Cars in India

Initial quality of cars plays a significant role in defining and promoting a brand image. This helps car manufacturers to earn trust of their customers and also helps them gain higher market share.

There are many car owners around the world who experience niggling problems in the initial ownership period. These problems mainly include engine and transmission issues, low-level of driving comfort, and excessive fuel-consumption. It is believed that the overall initial quality in Indian car industry averages 187 PP100 (problems per 100 units of vehicles).

When a car owner experiences any such kind of problem in the initial period of car ownership, he or she gets dissatisfied, which further makes him or her lose trust in that particular car model. This clearly states that improvement in initial quality of cars is very essential. An international organization, J.D Power Asia, helps the manufacturers improve their standards of quality by conducting surveys on the experiences and feedback of new car owners.

In the recent study, J.D Power has revealed some of the best quality cars in India. The study includes over 6000 new car owners, about 45 car models, and 12 car brands.

bullet  Chevrolet Spark

Chevrolet Spark ranks the top position in the compact car segment with a score of 148 PP100 in terms of quality followed by Maruti Zen Estilo in second position and Maruti Wagon R in the third position. The smartly designed car along with unique features makes it distinctive in its class.

In the interiors, the Spark reflects a blend of ground-breaking designs and ergonomically advanced controls. In addition, the stylish instrumentation and impressive cockpit adds to the beauty of the car. In terms of space, the car comes with an exceptionally spacious headroom and cabin.

Powered with an advanced 1.0 litre S-Tech (Smart Technology) engine, the car delivers exceptional power output, unmatched performance, and excellent fuel efficiency. It is believed to give an efficiency of about 13 km/L in city and about 18 km/L on highways.

bullet  Chevrolet Aveo U-VA

Chevrolet Aveo U-VA ranks the highest position in premium compact segment scoring 102 PP100 leaving behind its competitors Skoda Fabia and Hyundai Getz. It is designed youthfully with great detail and perfection. The striking design of the car is attributed to Italdesign, the renowned studio of Italy, founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro. In addition, full-chrome bezels, diamond mesh insert, and strong horizontal grille enhances the charm of the U-VA.

The car is powered by a 1.2-litre Inline-4 petrol engine mated with a 5-speed manual transmission and McPherson Strut suspension system. It is believed to deliver fuel-efficiency of about 11 km/L in city and about 15 km/L on highways.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, ranking top in entry midsize segment, is running ahead of its rivals Tata Indigo and Mahindra-Renault Logan. Born with a revolutionary design and appeal, the car gives more than what a car owner desires. In terms of designing, the car has maintained the look of its hatchback version, Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Talking about the interiors, the car is a perfect combination of comfort, luxury, and elegance. Powered with a choice of two engines, the car delivers unmatched performance and excellent fuel-efficiency. Honda City ranks top in midsize segment scoring 68 PP100. The new Honda City is artistically designed with a dynamic and path-breaking style. The New City is definitely powerful than the old City but the fact remains that it (old City) has a major contribution in giving the top rank to the car. This is because when the survey was started in May 2008, the New City was not launched.

The old Honda City was sleek and sporty with an efficient 1.5-litre i-DSI engine that delivers 76 bhp and a fuel-efficiency of about 12 km/L in city and about 18 km/L on highways.

Toyota Innova ranked first (98 PP100) in the MUV segment. The car was designed with a desire to introduce a flawless car and give a new face to the mode of transportation. It was mainly launched as a replacement of Toyota Qualis that was a leading MUV until the Innova was launched.
