Tips to Tune up Your New Car before Delivery
The Indian car market is mushrooming so is the number of car users. Thousands of new cars are sold in India everyday. With such a large number of cars being sold, there are chances that buyers could face a few problems with the new car. Most new car buyers are novice with little or zero experience in car buying. Sometimes, it is hard to tell if there are any problems with the new car. The best way to ensure a hassle-free purchase is to take a few precautions before the delivery of the car. If a problem is realised at a later stage, it could be difficult to get it fixed fast and if the issue turns out to be major, it could prompt you to take serious action against the car dealer.

When buying a new car, it is necessary to make sure that the car is intact and free of glitches before the delivery.

Here are few tips to help you gauge your new car:

  • Before taking the delivery, take the car out for a test drive. Listen to any peculiar sounds or noises that may not seem normal to you.
  • It is better to take the delivery of your car during the day because the artificial lights can hide scratches or blemishes at night.
  • Check whether the title and all the information given in the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on top of the dashboard matches with the information on the dealer’s document.
  • Confirm if all the additional features mentioned while purchasing is available in the car.
  • Check the body surface of the car for scratches and paint deformation. Make a thorough check up of the car interior for any residual glass fragments that might have remain in the car while manufacturing. Sometimes few parts of the car are damaged during transportation from warehouse to the showroom. If you spots any such problems then get it repair before the delivery.

  • Make sure that the doors, hood, and the trunk open and close easily. Also, check the cloth or leather upholstery.
  • Verify whether all the essential items are available in the car such as spare tire, jack, and owner's manual.
  • Check for the copies of all documents that include bill of sale, warranty papers and vehicle registration.
  • Note down the contact information of the concerned person in case the new car need any servicing.
  • Make sure that you have a copy of the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.
  • If the dealer-installed features are not available at the time of delivery, get it in writing as a proof. 
  • Get proper advice on how to operate all controls and car accessories before delivery.
  • If there is any maintenance or repair works is left then get it done.
  • Ensure that the service advisor writes down your problem exactly and completely. This is because technicians follow only the information that is available in the service order.

These are few issues that you should resolve before rolling out the brand new car from the showroom to ensure a hassle free driving. Though these tips seem very simple but will definitely help you in long run.
