Fiat’s 500 Scheme

Fiat has gone in a warscale like preparation in India before it formally launches any of its seven proposed cars in India. The first one to hit will be the Fiat 500 (Cinquecento). The car is very popular in Europe. It is highly appreciated for its small shape and wonderful interiors.

It will be the first car that bagged the European car of the year to hit Indian roads. The car is likely to make its entry in mid 2008. When compared to Big European cars, the Fiat 500 looks tiny. But the car price surpasses the costliest hatch Skoda Fabia by almost 100 percent. While the Fabia is available in the price range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, the Fiat 500 starts from Rs 13 lakh onwards. It will also raise the standards for a hatch in India.

Surely, the price factor will not make it a darling of million, but it will be a treasure jewel among the few. Its nearest cousin hatchback the Fiat Bravo costs a whopping Rs 23 lakh. The Fiat 500 will be completely imported from Italy. The new plant for the car production is under construction in Pune. The plant will manufacture another hatchback the Grand Punto and saloon Linea.

But why is the 500 so costly, when so many hatches in India cost 1/3 of the amount. The 500 will be powered by fiat engine technology of 1.3 liter Multijet engine that puffs 75 bhp of power.

It is also the only hatch where you can get options of colour schemes on the exterior and interiors. The number of options available is as high as its name. You can even colour the steering wheels, dash board panels, door panels, give the wheel arches a sporty look and insert chromes where you like.

It will be available with amazing safety features like seven air bags, it is the first time that a hatchback will get so many airbags in a cabin. It also comes with the amazing suspension that will swallow Indian road bumps with ease. The car will have ABS (Anti-lock brake system) and electronic stability programme.

The car will come with only two doors for hatch. Those who like to personalize their car will love this feature. It will be liked by the rich and famous.

The 500 will bring back the days of Fiat to India. Being conscious of the car success, Fiat is only bringing 200 cars to India. The launch of the car will be held soon. We have to wait to see whether Fiat 500 will be able to mark it success in Indian car market or not.
