Why Logan Logs in as ‘Best Car’?
Logan has been an underdog for a long time but it is finally being recognised for its merits. The company re-structured the brand imaging and it worked just right for the car. Logan comes with a strong steel build and excellent fuel efficiency. The car is right for any city in India, be it the posh Delhi roads or in small town Bhopal. The car can easily blend itself on any roads even on a rough potholed road. It can sustain it like a true blue blood.
Mahindra and Mahindra say that Logan has exceeded users’ expectation in both its versions – petrol and diesel. Logan is positioned against the Tata Indigo, Maruti SX4, and Maruti Swift DZire. It is available in a large range of seven variants. Logan derives its power from its engine available in three types– the 1.4 liter petrol and 1.6 liter and 1.5 liter diesel engine puffing 74 bhp, 85 bhp and 65 bhp power, respectively. The diesel version gets the common rail direct injection, which helps to achieve the small car fuel efficiency. The 1.5 liter generates a 16.3 kgm of torque and the motor just moves the car with a slight push from the 5-speed manual gearbox. The drive is very refined and surprisingly silent for an entry level car.
Now we just cannot forget the diesel Logan’s amazing fuel efficiency. The engine delivers a mileage of 15kmpl in City and 20kmpl on the highway. The petrol engines give a healthy 10 kmpl in the city and 14 kmpl on the highway. The car has been provided with a tachometer and a LCD display unit. The driver is assisted by an advanced driver information system that gives information on average speed, fuel consumption, distance left to travel and average fuel consumption. The black dial with white marking helps to read the gauges accurately. The plastics are of smooth though not of a very high quality.
Logan has one of the largest cabin and widest body spaces in its class. In the interiors the front seats are large and offer enough thigh support. The driver’s seat height is adjustable with a lumbar support. The back seat room is also wider than seen in most sedans. The back seats come with three head supports. Five large adults can be seat comfortably in the car. The car comes with an AC enough to cool down rear passenger. It comes with a four way heating and ventilation system.
Beige coloured premium seat fabric adorns the interiors. The light coloured plastics and seats make the interiors appear larger. The car has ample storage spaces. The luggage space is large with a 510 liter boot space and bottle holders. The cargo space can accommodate several suitcases together.
On the exterior, the wide body is tough and muscular. The rear seat passengers are protected with a cross member support attached behind the seats to absorb the impact of an accident. The car suspension can tackle any road condition. The front wheels get an independent McPherson struts with double wishbone links and the torsion beams with coil springs at for the rear wheels. The steering wheel is accurate and the wheels turn to the exact corner that one wants.
If Logan’s merits are counted, it would be more than that of any other car of its segment. And it also comes at a cheaper price. So al those who have large families but do not want to buy a SUV should go for a Logan.
