McLaren Mercedes MP4 24
McLaren Mercedes MP4 24 introduced by Daimler bears the number 1 plate on its nose with the world champion Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel. With an unprecedented series of latest rules, the new F1 car is creatively designed with slick tyres, and an advanced engine technology. It is artistically painted in silver with the Vodafone brand shining in red all over.
The McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 still reflects the lineage created by MP4-22 and MP4-23 but is much different from its predecessors in all aspect. It is designed with a widened front wing aimed at increasing front-end load and a compact rear wing to reduce interference while chasing cars on the track. In addition, a heavily revised diffuser and driver-adjustable front wing flap is fitted in the car to further improve performance and acceleration.
The 2009 season McLaren Mercedes F1 car is also equipped with the high-performance KERS system. This new engine is designed with a primary objective of storing energy produced while braking so that it can be released under acceleration. The optimised KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) discharges an additional 80 bhp and also helps achieve a gain of 0.4 to 0.6 seconds per lap.
Ferrari F60
Ferrari F60 also reflects a raft of radical new changes in line with the latest rules and regulations. The 2009 season Ferrari's F1 car is named F60 as it coincides with the celebration of Ferrari completing 60 years in its rendezvous with Formula One. It is coloured in scarlet red with a shining Tata emblem that cheers for Ferrari. The renowned drivers of the F60 are Filipe Massa and Kimi Raikonnen.
Ferrari F60 is designed with a new aerodynamic structure with wider front wing and narrower rear wing to achieve less downforce, lower lap times, and increased overtaking. It also sees the comeback of slick tyres that were earlier seen in 1997.
Under the hood, Ferrari F60 is powered by a hi-tech KERS that helps store energy under braking manoeuvres and release the same under acceleration. It also bears a new Brembo braking system and refined front suspension to optimize the use and functions of slick tyres. Additional 'K' button is secretly mounted on the steering wheel to boost the performance of the high-performance KERS engine.
BMW F1.09
BMW F1.09 is another
F1 contender in the 2009 Formula One season. It is artistically designed with a huge front wing and a high nose, a wide front wing, and a slimmer rear wing. Talented drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Hiedfeld aim at clinching the world championship with the conceptual new developments in the BMW F1 car.
It is elegantly designed with a three-element front wing that has a dominant visual presence. The outer edges of the wings are fitted with auxiliary elements and are designed in a way that it aids air flow around the tyres. Drivers of the car can even move the flaps upwards and downwards and this activity helps increase overtaking. Equipped with the slick tyres, the car also experiences modification in the front suspension and rear suspension. The wishbone front suspension and the steering arms are designed in a way to ensure maximum aero effect and also to complement KERS system.
Renault 29
The Renault R29 developed by the ING Renault F1 Team for the 2009 Formula One season with significant changes is expected to bring back the past glory to the Renault Team. The new Renault F1 car is creatively designed to help its talented drivers Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet JR. achieve prestigious triumphs.
It is built with the use of red colour on the front and rear wings to highlight the brand colour of its new sponsor, Total Oil. The new season F1 car now has a moulded carbon fibre and aluminium honeycomb composite structure to ensure maximum strength with minimum weight. A seven-speed semi-automatic transmission is equipped in the R29 to optimise speed and performance of gear shifts. In addition, the front and rear suspensions are also modified aimed at improving performance, acceleration, and overtaking.
The high-performance KERS engine has become a standard and one of the most significant additions in all Formula One cars designed for the 2009 season. In the R29, the engine is supported by an electronic control unit and advanced cooling system.
William FW 31
The William FW 31 is designed with an improved aerodynamic structure coinciding with other radical changes as per new rules for 2009 season. The proud drivers Nico Roseberg and Kazuki Nakajima expect to win back the lost glory for the team with the newly designed car.
The new William's F1 car is designed with wider front wing and smaller but higher rear wing. The chassis is designed using carbon fibre and honeycomb composite structure to attain strength and reliability with minimum weight. The wishbone front suspension with the composite toelink and pushrod activated springs and anti-roll bar further helps improve performance and driving experience. The double wishbone and pushrod activated springs and anti-roll bar in the rear suspension is another significant addition to the new season car. Additionally, the Williams F1 seven speed seamless sequential semi-automatic transmission proves to be a blessing to the car's performance. It also uses the state-of-art mid-mounted KERS engine under the hood.
