Every product is associated with a name that either describes or adds more value to it. Every word has connotation and relations above and beyond their literal meaning. Car manufacturers too always tried to connect something with the car names that add more meaning to life. Naming a car is very important as it helps in knowing the car better. The name as already said, portrays what the car is all about. Definitely in most of the cases the car manufacturer will name the car that is relevant. Though there are exceptional cases, generally the best car names are the ones that have been around for some time and are popular even if the production is stopped. Some of the famous car names have been mentioned below.

bullet Ford Mustang

It is one of the best known muscle cars in the history of automobiles, which has engraved itself in the hearts of many fans. The car is said to have named after the legendary World War II fighter plane P32 Mustang that won many battles for America. The name has played a pivotal role by giving the driver the freedom to drive and enjoy the car like the fighter plane. Over the years, the car did receive names like Boss, Cobra and Shelby but the name Mustang was always of high importance and the name stuck as a prefix of the car. Ford put its Ford Mustang into production in 1964 is still going strong.

The name ‘Silver Cloud’ perfectly fits to the T for the royal car brand Rolls Royce. Rolls Royce Silver Cloud model was produced between 1955-56. The model got its name because of its authentic and soft nature. Adding the term “Silver” denotes royalty and it was the largest ever in the series of 'small' Rolls-Royces. Silver Cloud was replaced by Silver Dawn which again was swapped for the much exotic name such as Silver Shadow. The press called the new Silver Cloud the 'finest car in the world'. Silver Cloud was one of the major models from the Rolls Royce stable in its era. The model was powered by a 5-0-litre engine.

Ferrari Testarossa, a mid-engined sports car was manufactured between 1984 to 1996. Testarossa was proposed to be a faster, better handling, more spacious and more luxurious sports coupe. Testarossa means ‘Red Head’ in Italian. Testarossa was later replaced by the 512 TR and about 5648 of these cars were built. Carroll Shelby, the legendary American racing and automotive designer and former racing driver hit upon this name when he ventured with Ford Motors and started building products under Ford banner. In 2004, a new Ford Shelby Cobra Concept was shown off in at US car shows. Built with a retro body mimicking the 1960s Cobras mixed with modern touches. He said the name Cobra came in his dream. It was a very strong name that perfectly suited the car. The name Cobra was used by Ford Motors for various Mustangs. The Cobra with its powerful performance was a big challenge for Corvette during its era.
