Ford Motors was established in June 1903 by Henry Ford. The founder of the company revolutionized the mass production of cars by introducing innovative means of designing and producing cars on a large scale. The company has its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

The first revolutionary production from Ford Motors was the introduction of Ford Model T that is tagged as the first people’s car with the cheapest price tag of around Rs 46,000. Ford is a public limited company founded by Henry Ford.

The former UK subsidiaries of Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover, were sold to Tata Motors in 2008.

The Model T was produced with a low price of around Rs 46,000. In the later years the price of the car was further reduced and for some time the Model T was also sold at a price of around Rs 13,000. This low price was attributed to the fact that Henry passed on the production savings to the customers.


The 2 millionth Model T was produced on June 14th 1917.


In the year 1919 Ford introduced an electric starter for the Model T so that the car owners could easily drive the car without any need to crank the engine to start it.


The 5 millionth Model T was produced on 28th May, 1921 and on June 4th, 1924 the 10 millionth Model T was rolled out of the production facility.


The 10 millionth car was driven by the famous Ford racing driver Frank Kulick from New York to San Francisco on the Lincoln Highway.


In 1909 the Model T stood first in the New York to Seattle race giving an average of 12.4 km/h.


It is believed that more than 15,000,000 Model T’s were built and sold.


After about 19 years of production Ford Model T marked a formal ending at a modest ceremony held on May 26th 1927.


On December 18th, 1999 the Ford Model T was named “Car of the Century” by a panel of 133 automotive journalists and experts.


In the year 2003, 43 vintage Model T were showcased to highlight the 100th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company.


Ford’s 2010 Fusion Hybrid is the first hybrid sedan from Ford.


The hybrid was evolved from Ford’s first generation system developed for the Escape. It uses a more powerful 2.5-liter that generates 155 bhp of power output.


156 horsepower four-cylinder engine and a 106 horsepower electric traction motor to drive the front wheels.


Ford Escort was a small family car made by Ford from 1967 to 2003.
