Thunder has Some Noise to Make

Ford India has created a new record with the introduction of Endeavour Thunder. With the sale of 360 Endeavour in January this year, the car has been on the shelf. Priced at Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Endeavour Thunder is a new kid in the SUV bloc. Though the Thunder retains a lot of the Endeavour’s character, it is more powerful and strong compare to other SUV in the category.
The Endeavour was fitted with the 2.5 liter motor, which puffed out 141 bhp and torque of 33 kgm, but the Thunder gets a larger 3.0 liter churning out 154 bhp and 38.75 kgm.

The Thunder comes with a 4WD (four wheel drive) and can take up the toughest terrain with ease. While Endeavour need a lot of revving up on the gravel and the driver needs to keep turning the steering wheel to control the beast. It can touch 140 kmph without any troubles.

The Endeavour has a strong SUV presence and is the most popular vehicle in the mid-range segment. It can actually look like a bully on road with it puffing grilles and muscular front face. The vehicle suspension of leaf springs at the rear and independent double wishbone springs in the front bring in a lot of refinement in the ride. It can actually absorb most of the bumpy road and provide a smooth ride over rough terrain.

The Thunder is a sequel to the Endeavour. Its amazing torque helps the car cover deep pits and sharp inclines with determined stability.

On the highway, the Thunder is at its best cruising easily at 200 kmph without the slightest lag. 80 percent of the torque is available at lower gears. The wheel arches make it look menacing from side.

The large wheelbase helps to offer stability in time of rough road. In the city it can deal with the slow moving traffic without any problems. This is because it has been equipped with the variable geometry turbo. The bulky weight does not take away the mileage of 12.9kmpl.

The car runs with equal ease both on the City roads and the highways. It is a perfect car for serious off-road drivers. The ride quality of Thunder is refined and gentle while Endeavour is more rustic.

The thunder is certainly an improvement over the Endeavour. It is a car for those who want more power and stability. But fix your parameters before you make the final choice. Anyhow the difference in prices is not much if you look for the two SUV from the same stable.
