MDI Airpod
Unlike the earlier air-powered prototypes from the MDI (Motor Development International) this new Airpod is more perfect and is ready to use with an eco-friendly heart. Guy Negre, the creator of MDI has put in fifteen years of effort to perfect the Airpod technology and reading it for the worldwide customers. Previously, the air-powered prototypes from MDI were very noisy, but now the decibel levels have come down drastically, thanks to the improved applications of silencing technology and sound engineering. Though the dates are not available, it is expected that the grand new Airpod will be very soon introduced in America. The MDI has already partnered with Zero Pollution Technologies.
MDI OneCAT
Another pneumatic-hybrid electric car from MDI, OneCAT, where CAT stands for Compressed Air Technology, was unveiled at the 2008 New York Auto Show. The styling and designing of the OneCAT will easily become the hot favourites of the Smart car and Mini car owners. Only the compressed air powered version of the OneCAT is being tested. And it uses fuel together with the compressed air. The pneumatic version will charge in two minutes time and it will travel up to 100 kilometres in a single charge will get over 100 range and charge in under two minutes. The dual technology vehicle can be run on petrol, diesel, alcohol, biodiesel, and vegetal oils. And it has a mileage of over 1000 miles per gallon. The expected launch date of the OneCAT is not available.
MDI/Tata Motor CityCAT
The CityCAT will not win the hearts of those muscle car lovers, but instead it is a very cutely designed, bug styled AirPod. The CityCAT range of cars includes four door and sliding door van style cars. These cars are already being developed in India and will soon be available for production in U.S. for future. An electric-powered air compressor is needed to charge the 175 liter air tank, which will not be easily available in India, but it is still believed that the style and designing of these cars will gain customers in the Indian car market. It has a mileage of over 100 kilometres on one charge. The Indian auto major, Tata Motors, has already licensed the technology rights of this product from MDI to build its own brand of Air Cars.
Energine PHEV
Energine is a Korean car manufacturer that has been showing severe enthusiasm in showcasing its pneumatic-hybrid electric concept car globally. The company is soon expected on the American roads as the company has now attained a patent in the United States. This car has a dual power option, first, the air-powered engine is used for acceleration, and then a secondary electrical drive train. The rounded exterior features of the car covers the advanced compressed air technology. The initial models of the car only had a speed of 74 mph for 30 minutes. But, it is expected that there will be improvement in performance. Cold air is the only exhaust from the car. The cost of the car could be 20% less than that of an ordinary car as it does not have a fuel tank, spark plugs and cooling systems. The possible launch date of the car in America is not announced, but it is expected to hit the American car market very soon.
Magnetic Air Car
The Magnetic Air Car would be a dream come true for the sports car lovers who are also concerned about the maintaining the environment pollution free. San Jose Club Auto Sport claims that it is developing Magnetic Air Car. Unlike the system of piston-like powered that is seen in most pneumatic vehicles, the Magnetic Air Car uses a magnetic technology to generate power. The car will use a silicon salt battery that has 30 per cent more mass power than a typical lead-acid battery. The silicon batteries will recharge in an hour and it is recyclable too. The Magnetic Air Car can perform well even at a temperature that ranges from -40 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. And this is where the performance of the electric hybrids and gas cars lag behind.
