Ideas that are expected to become revolutionary may sometime turn out to be really weird. There have been many cars that falls in the category of being strange. The cars mentioned below have weird features, styling, looks, or designing:

bullet Peraves Ecomobile

Peraves EcomobileThe Ecomobile is a weird looking car manufactured by the Swiss company Peraves. The designing idea of the car surely emerged from an aeroplane, as the car looks similar to cockpit of an aeroplane. This is an unusual car, which has a motorcycle enclosed in it. The Ecomobile is powered by a 4 cylinder BMW K series motorcycle engine, which is mounted at the rear of the car. The car has three tyres and has distant similarities with the Indian auto rickshaw. The Ecomobile has leather covered seats and occupies two. It has a speed of 202 kilometres per hour.

Jeep HurricaneThe Jeep Hurricane was first unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2005. The Jeep has a monocoque body and is the most powerful 4x4 ever built. The Hurricane does not have any side doors or a roof and the car accommodates only two people. The Jeep Hurricane has two engines. It is available with two 5.7-liter HEMI engines; one is in the front and the other in the back. The Jeep emits a total of 670 horsepower and has a fully controllable 4-wheel steering. The Jeep is a light weight car, which is made up of light-weight carbon fibre. And the components of the vehicle such as the suspension, transmission, and engines are mounted directly on to the body of the Jeep. And it is the skid plate that connects the chassis of the car to its underside.

Lexus Minority ReportThis is a highly futuristic car which in most probability will not be available in the car market. The car has been featured in Steven Spielberg’s movie featuring Tom Cruise as the central cast. The movie is a science fiction and it speaks of the world in 2054. The car was thus build by Lexus for the movie. It is a high performance two-seater sports car. The car has an extreme cab-forward seating and the wheels are been spaced out to each corner. The weird proportions of the car make the onlooker confused that he will not be able to understand which is the front or the rear at the first glance.

The high tech features of the Minority Report Lexus include a dent-resistant carbon composite body panels, 'heads up' display with night vision an organic recognition, laser guided cruise control, voice and gesture controlled computer system, body conforming bucket seats with automatic heating and cooling, retractable solar body panels for recharging and interior climate control during parking, DNA recognition entry and ignition system, rear view video camera, and an 'auto valet' system which drops the owner off and then recharges its batteries using the solar panels. Truly amazing, isn’t it?

Tango T600The Tango T600 is an electric car that is being manufactured by Commuter Cars. The car is tall but it is only 102 inches long and 39 inches wide. T600 can seat two and has a carbon fibre body, Connolly leather interior, race-tuned suspension, and a 400-watt stereo. The high performance of the car has an electric engine. The car has been designed in such a way that the driver and the passenger sit one behind the other. And this helps in saving lots of space.

Cree SAMThe Swiss company Cree Ltd. is the manufacturer of the Cree SAM. The SAM is an eco-friendly car that has been developed and designed by Cree. The car is a prototype zero emission battery electric vehicle, which is powered by an electric motor and has zero emission. A total of only 80 Cree SAM's have been produced till date and among which most of the cars were bought for public testing in Switzerland.

SAM is a three-wheel car. It is a two seater, which has a tandem arrangement. The electric motor of the Cree SAM has a speed of up to 85 kilometre per hour. The car is built on aluminium, which makes the car very lightweight. The car occupies two adults and the double wall, air filled, thermoplastic body of the car secures the car with more protection.

CLEVERThe CLEVER is a result of years of research by the BMW and the University of Bath. They were striving to bring out a compact, fuel efficient city car. CLEVER stands for Compact Low Emission Vehicle for Urban Transport. The car has two rear wheels and one front wheel. The top speed of the car is 50 mph. It has a very distinctive tilting design which helps in adding more stability to the vehicle. But it has a possible danger of tripping at high speed, which is very common in three-wheel vehicles. The car has an electronically controlled hydraulic active tilt system which ensures safety even at low speeds. The cabin is rotated around a maximum of 45 degree each way with two hydraulic actuators. The system works with the help of a computer that calculates the preferred lean angle by taking into account speed, lateral acceleration, and tilt angle of the cabin. The car runs on compressed natural gas and this will result in not only preserving stocks of oil but will also help in emitting less carbon dioxide.

Rinspeed SplashRinspeed Splash is a sports car that can be altered in to a hydrofoil speed boat that has a speed of 50 mph. The Rinspeed Splash is manufactured by Rinspeed, a Swiss design company. The company had to compromise on the styling of the car so that the car will not be highly priced. The Splash will deploy a propeller at the rear, the large rear spoiler rolls becomes the rear hydrofoil, and two hydrofoils incorporated into the left and right sides of the splash form the front hydrofoils. The Rinspeed has waterproof interiors.
