Renault Rocks on Indian Roads

Renault was born in 1895 but has lived only three years in the Indian sub-continent. Since its inception, the company has provided its valued customers the best of car technologies and innovations. It is the only car manufacturers in India to have the maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating for its eight car models.
The first venture of the company in India was the joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra to introduce a highly technological and state-of-the-art spacious luxury sedan, Logan in India. This high-tech car gave Renault a new platform to tap over the growing Indian car market and helped Mahindra & Mahindra to strengthen its presence.

With the success of Logan, Renault visualized new and better opportunities in the country and moved ahead with a new deal signed with its sister company Nissan. This joint venture is aimed at establishing an industrial plant at Oragadam, outside Chennai. This plant is established in response to the long-term commitment between both the car manufacturers for in-house production. The joint venture with this new plant desires to deliver local design, engineering, component, and manufacturing to India.

The Renault and Nissan further continued to have a long lasting relationship. Through the existing venture they also joined hands with the Bajaj to gift a small wonder to Indian populace. The three stars together define the ultra low-cost car project in the country. To convert this dream to a reality, Renault has also opened a new design centre in Mumbai. This new design centre is the company’s sixth centre across the globe and is expected to give Renault’s Indian operations a large international spectrum.

This centre will have a roll out of cars and car accessories, eventually integrating within the large design culture of the company. Even the proposed ultra low-cost project will form an essential part of this centre. Renault has employed nearly about 16 employees and most of them are intelligent and talented graduates from the best design colleges across the globe.

It is also believed that the design of the small car by Renault, Bajaj, and Nissan has been finalized at the Renault’s design centre and is now expected to be produced or manufactured at Baja’s Greenfield facility at Chakan, Pune. Meanwhile the plant at Chennai will also become functional from where the company plans to roll out Megane sedan and Cio hatchback.

Renault’s dreams and aspirations do not stop at this line but goes beyond the boundaries. Renault with all its expertise, technologies and innovations desires to makes its future in India even brighter with more ventures, new car launches and other establishments.
