Logo and Name
Audi cars are beautified with a magical logo, ‘Four Rings’. This emblem was registered in 1932 and symbolizes the merger of four independent automobile manufacturers comprising Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer that forms the Auto Union AG in Chemnitz, Germany. Audi introduced its first car in 1910, DKW established in 1907 was earlier restricted to the production of apparatus and fittings, Horch built its first car in 1900, and Wanderer was an automobile division. All the four big players joined together to give birth to Audi’s logo.
Later in 1969, NSU, a motorcycle producer, also joined the Audi union. Thereafter, the company was renamed to AUDI AG. The term Audi is taken from a Latin word known as ‘hear’. This term disappeared after independence and it was further revived in 1965 with the logo of four magical rings.
