The
10th Auto Expo was flagged off at the Pragati Maidan exposition grounds in New Delhi on 5th January 2010. The show which attracted over 2,100 participants from 30 countries is a growing testimony to India's emergence as a major auto market and hub for the global automobile industry.
The Indian automotive industry has a turnover of more than $18 billion (Rs.90,000 Crore) today and gained significantly through new tie-ups, partnerships and marketing initiatives during Auto Expo. The Expo witnessed the largest-ever overseas participation with contingents from Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Taiwan and Britain.
This time apart from cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and other variety of automobile accessories were also on display. Other displays at the event included a wide range of new and locally designed and developed auto components. Many of these component designs have been patented in the country as well as overseas.

- Honda, on the other hand, not to be overshadowed by Toyota which was also in the same stand as Honda, previewed its “New-Small” concept car which will be produced in 2011. The New Small Concept will be powered by a new 1.0-litre petrol engine using VTEC technology.
- Honda also showcased its CR-Z hybrid which uses Honda's IMA technology.
- ASIMO, the humanoid also cheered the crowd at the Honda stand.
- Mahindra & Mahindra displayed its Mahindra Thar off-road concept which was based on the classic MM 540 body but inducted a new 2.5-litre common-rail diesel engine that has amazing off-roading capabilities. It also showcased the Bolero concepts.
- Hyundai made a noise at the Expo by revealing the i10 Electric which was unveiled by Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan.
- Hyundai also previewed the Genesis coupe and the stylish HED-5 i-mode six-seater.
- Fiat in its second innings here in India also lined up its cars.
- Renault which has a meager presence in India with its only model the drab looking Logan came out with some of the interesting products it has lined up for the country.
- The French actually made a clear statement that it could make beautiful cars when it showcased its Fluence and Laguna sedans.
- The Koleos SUV also was previewed at the Expo along with the Megane sedan.
- The single-seater electric-Twizzy also was displayed at the Expo with a Renault F1 R29 car.
