The Era of CNG fuel Begins….

The seeds of the recent price hike sowed by the government has a given a great pinch to the consumers as well as the buyers. It has become difficult to afford a car.

The price hike has resulted in many numbers of private CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) users in Delhi as well as other states in India where CNG station are available. Many private vehicle owners have opted for the CNG versions which can be depicted the rush at the filling stations. In capital, the number of CNG vehicles has grown incredibly, where approximately 2.25 lakh vehicles are being supplied with CNG.

Due to the high demand, there have been problems related to the lack of supply in Delhi and the government is working on this issue by supporting the Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL), the only supplier of CNG and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in the Capital. The government is also looking forward to open more CNG stations.

According to Sheila Dikshit (Chief Minister, Delhi) around fifty more CNG stations will be inaugurated in the Capital to make the supply more easily available for all forms of transport. From the IGL sales report it has been estimated that the figures for CNG have rose to 13 lakh kg/day from the 11 lakh kg/day till last month and the  PNG is being supplied to around 1.25 lakh households in Delhi.

Here are some of the benefits that are mated with the CNG version vehicles.

As we all know it is the most practical form of alternative fuel for today’s automotive industry. It is low in pollutants as it reduces the vehicular exhaust emissions thus offering greener environment. It is low in cost as compare to Petrol. It is also easy and simple to use in the vehicle capable of running either on Petrol or CNG.

Now many car manufacturers are rolling out CNG version cars like the Hyundai Accent, Santro. The Mahindra Logan and Fiat is also expected to roll out the CNG version of its small car the Fiat Palio by next year. This version is going to be the first eco-friendly car to be launched in India by Fiat. Even the luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also rolled out its CNG version.
