10 Superb Cars Powered by Water

We speak of low-emission cars. How about having zero emission? What if the petrol and diesel in your cars gets replaced with water? What if water vapour gushed out of your car instead of smoke? While we are considering transforming into a clean green world, let's meet these water-powered cars and draw some inspiration.

These are hydrogen-powered or alternative-fuel vehicles that use hydrogen as fuel for motion. Hydrogen is burnt, converting its chemical energy into mechanical energy. Hydrogen is either burnt in an internal combustion engine, or, hydrogen and oxygen are brought to react with each other in a fuel cell, thus running the electric motor. So, fasten your seat belts as we go on a test ride in each of these cool water cars.

Aston Martin DBGT 2025

What a car! Water car! This Aston Martin DBGT 2025, like any of the earlier cars from the brand, has stylish and classy looks. What is more special in this Aston Martin is the process of electrolysis that produces hydrogen from water. This hydrogen runs the car. The car with zero emission is also believed to be one of the best future car designs.

Honda FC Sport

Beauty is not as important as the inner soul. The Honda FC Sport sure has a clean soul with zero emission. Honda revealed this three-seat hydrogen fuel cell sports car at the L.A. Auto Show. It takes its roots from the V-Flow stack of the FCX Clarity concept car. With the high-power fuel cell stack in between the rear seats, and the backup battery pack in the car's centre, the Honda FC Sport is a superb splendid car.

BMW HR2 Hybrid Car

Taking help from hybrid car technologies, BMW has taken the task of producing fuel cell cars. A dual-mode version of the present 7 series may launch in the coming years. So, we will soon see the first BMW car that will be able to run on both hydrogen and gasoline. A clean energy car indeed!

Jaguar C-XC

Do you see the car top? It is a single-piece glass surface covering the entire length of the car. Below it resides a hydrogen fuel cell drive train. The wheels too, of the Jaguar C-XC, come covered to enhance the aerodynamic looks. Besides having a zero-emission engine, materials forming this Jaguar's body too hardly have any harmful effects on the environment. The car will be built using vegetable tan leather and recycled PET bottles.

General Motor's HydroGen4

This GM car derives hydrogen from its carbon fibre storage tanks, steals oxygen from the atmosphere and then combines the two using its 440 single hydrogen cells to produce electricity. The car then zooms to a speed of 160 km/hr. The wondrous HydroGen4 can trail 0 to 100 km/hr in just 12 seconds.

RT20

Liquid hydrogen plays around in the twin-turbo V6 engine promising a power-driven ride. Safety and comfort in the RT20 is ultimate. The usual spring suspension is replaced by electromagnets returning a better response. The better response can be made even better by regulating the current passing through the magnets.

H2 Racer

Designers of the H2 Racer had two aspirations; winning the 'world's fastest hydrogen-powered racer' title and displaying to the world the power of clean fuels like hydrogen. The zero-emission H2 Racer is powered by an internal-combustion motorcycle engine with a few modifications to make it run on hydrogen. The eco-friendly engine, standing by at all times, supports the car in reaching over 170 km/hr.

Mazda TONBO

This is pure bliss! We have car designed by DedekDesign and Mazda of Europe that can drive and dive in water too. It is powered by hydrogen fuel cells and has only pure water coming out of the exhaust. Another innovative feature packed in this car is the anti-vandal closing system to take care of parking woes.

Ronn Motors Scorpion Roadster

Roadster is powered by an engine having a wonderful blend of hydrogen and gasoline. This engine not just ensures low emissions; it also assures the excitement for which supercars are famed. The Scorpion's classy body comes with a low-slung front-end, swept-back headlamps, hood vents and globular fenders, together with gigantic air-intakes aft in the front doors.
