AMG Philosophy
AMG follows a key philosophy of 'one man, one engine' that drives the entire range of AMG cars in India as well as in the international market.
All the cars are artistically designed with passion to achieve an outstanding result by giving great care and attention to every aspect of car designing and engineering. Whether it is exterior appeal, interior elegance, testing new technologies, or developing new approaches, AMG always follow the golden concept of 'passion and patience'.
The actual philosophy of 'one man, one engine’ applies while designing and producing the heart of the AMG cars. Each and every engine component is carefully designed, selected, and installed. After installing the engine, every component is further inspected for high-end reliability and dependability. At the end of installing process, it receives a badge of reliability in the form of an engraved signature plate affixed in the engine that spells the capabilities and wisdom of the technician involved in designing and fitting the corresponding engine.
Birth of AMG
AMG was founded in 60s at the Old Mill in Burgstall (a province in Italy) by Hans-Werner Aufrecht and his partner Erhard Melcher. In 'AMG', the letter 'A' comes from the last name of Hans-Werner Aufrech whereas the letter 'M' is taken from the last name of Erhard Melcher, depicting the names of the founders. The additional letter 'G' comes from Grossaspach, the birthplace of Aufrecht.
Earlier,
AMG only provided auto parts and exterior adornments to Mercedes-Benz but gradually they started introducing cars that are known as 'Mega Mercedes' by most of the car buyers and car enthusiasts.

Explore the Heritage
Founders of AMG who were known for designing and engineering the most powerful racing engines previously worked for the Mercedes-Benz. Later on, when they both left the company they started their own establishment at Old Mill in the year 1967.
The two skilled and talented professionals then began their own production of engines and exterior embellishments. The first customer was initially a little sceptical about the small establishment built by then but after driving the car he was really satisfied with their work.
Aufrecht and Melcher later modified the engine of the race cars based on Mercedes-Benz 300SE sedan. They made a huge investment and had put in lots of effort to take the car back on the racing track and they successfully did it in 1971. The AMG Team with European Go-kart champions Hans Heyer and Clemens Schickentanz agreed to drive the heavy racing car. This was another successful accomplishment by AMG giving a turning point for the small AMG. This marked a new legacy for AMG and from here there was no looking back.
In the year 1973, AMG started delivering performance engines to Mercedes-Benz. In addition, the company also started making body kits, beefed-up brakes, light-alloy wheels, and a host of other embellishments. While experiencing exponential growth and rejoicing appreciation, AMG outgrew and moved to Affalterbach (Southern Germany) with 40 employees in 1976.
In 1983, AMG produced an innovative four-valve cylinder head for the Mercedes-Benz V8 engine that was fitted in the 500 SEC AMG in 1984 to achieve 340 bhp. The fame and name of the company was gradually increased and in 1985 the company employed its 100th employee in its second production facility.
AMG has received many awards and in 1988 it started an official partnership with Mercedes-Benz for motor sports. The first agreement was initiated in 1990 between the Daimler-Benz and the AMG.
The C 36 AMG was the first car developed in collaboration between AMG and Mercedes. Since then many new and powerful cars were developed by the joint venture.
In the present era, apart from offering high-performance engines and complete vehicles, Mercedes-AMG also designs and develops special sports equipments for all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.
