The long holiday season has just started and its time for families to hit the roads. After a long tiring work season, how about driving in a car with family on some great scenic places?

Traveling in your car with family is a most families look ahead in the holiday season. There are several advantages in driving yourself with your family. A planned tour can be a great gift to your family like wise an unplanned tour can put the holiday in jeopardy.

Here are some tips on how to make your holiday a well planned event:

Before starting:

The first aspect while planning a holiday comes the distance of travel. It is important to make sure that you can driver your car over longer distance without any hassles. A Multi-utility vehicle or a Sports Utility Vehicle will be better suited for long drives rather than a small car.
Keep a set of essential tool kit and first aid kit ready in the car. These kits placed in location which is convenient to access.
The second most important thing is the weather. Make it a point to check the weather report before setting out on a road trip as it helps to pack the cloths to suite the weather condition at your destination point.

When you start:

The driver should be given ample time to reach the destination. Forcing the driver to reach fast may indulge him to rash driving risking safety.
Make sure that all occupants put there seat belts while driving. Putting seats belts can prevent fatalities in the event of a collision. In addition to seat belts, may cars also come with child safety seats to ensure the child occupant is safely secured to seat.
A cell phone in the vehicle may come in handy during emergency situations. Make sure there is at least one cell phone in the car. Note: Talking on cell phone while driving is a traffic offence and you can be penalized for the violation of the rule.

While driving:

Drivers should leave a safe distance between the vehicles they are trailing. One should ensure that your vehicle doesn’t bump into vehicle in the front in case of emergency breaking.
Driving long distance brings stress. It is advisable for the driver to take breaks in between the long driver. Going for a short walk or a jog is advisable to de-stress oneself.
If heavy traffic is a problem, try to drive in off-peak times in order to reach the destination faster.
