Bollywood Trussed With Cars

Bollywood is believed to be the lifeline of Indian Cinemas. It speaks the language of Indian heritage, culture, and lifestyle. While reflecting the lifestyle of Indian society, the movies showcase a panorama of fashion that not only includes costumes and hairstyles but also a zest of homes, landscapes, and cars.

Singing aloud with panache, dancing around trees and bushes in exotic locations, and spinning in dashing cars have all become an epitome of Bollywood movies which are enjoyed by audience across the globe. This also gives a golden opportunity to car manufacturers to showcase their car models to gain prominence.

Like Hollywood, Bollywood does not have archive of movies made around cars and automobiles but if one goes down the memory lane, there are handful of Hindi movies that showcase some of the popular cars. The local Fiats, Hindustan Ambassadors, and Premier Padmini were few of the most common cars found in old movies. Infact, those movies remind of the old car and reveal their true characteristics as to how the legendary cars looked like especially the kind of upholstery, steering wheel, and the appeal. A swift glance to the classic movies like Teesri Manzil, Kashmir Ki Kali, and Sadhu Aur Shaitan reminds of the old legendary cars.

Then, the Ice White Ambassador in Teesri Manzil, Studebaker Champion convertible with Shammi Kapoor in Kashmir Ki Kali, and Mercury Taxi with Mehmood in Sadhu Aur Shaitan is also a clear image of the old but gold generations of cars. The reminiscence of Chrysler 300 Limousine in Amar Akbar Anthony also worth appreciation.
Here are listed some of the all-time hit Bollywood movies that has displayed a number of excellent cars round the world:

bullet  Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi

The title of the movie itself depicts cars. In the movie, Madhubala’s Austin A-40 Somerset, a car that symbolizes elegance and luxury, gleams over the Chevrolet cars with which Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar, and Kishore Kumar race. The vintage British A40 Somerset has been used consistently in Indian cinema to take viewers back in time to the 1950s when the car was popular.

bullet  Akela

In Akela, remember Amitabh Bachchan driving a yellow Beetle that is fondly known as the Rampyari. It was even more fun to watch the way Amitabh used to communicate with his Beetle in the movie. He also sang a popular song in the movie on the Beetle, ‘chal chal re chal meri raampyari’.

bullet  Dobara

Dobara showcases a revamped and modified Tata Safari converted to a roofless Jeep. Dilip Chhabria designed this special car for the movie. The entire journey of Jackie Shroff and Raveena Tandon from Goa to Mumbai is covered with the car. Therefore, the converted Tata Safari plays an integral role in the film.

bullet  Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ)

DDLJ is a fabulous and winning Bollywood movie that represented a number of flashy cars like the Lamborghini and the Mercedes-Benz. When Shahrukh Khan rushes for his convocation function, he drives the sparkling two-seater white Lamborghini with upward ejecting doors and on his romantic journey with Kajol, the hero drives the slick and elegant Mercedes-Benz convertible.

bullet Main Hoon Na

Main Hoon Na is another movie with a great number of renowned cars. The entire movie with a blend of action and romance is played around different cars. In most of the movie the chase between Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti Gypsy is showcased. Sunil Shetty is mostly found in the Mahindra CJ in the entire movie. In one scene the terrorists pulls out Shusmita Sen from the Hyundai Santro Xing. The best watch in the movie is classic Premier Padmini.

bullet Don

In this movie a variety of cars are portrayed with a unique series of stunts and actions. Shahrukh can be seen driving different class of cars in different scenes. Shahrukh’s gang in the movie is shown fighting in the Maruti Gypsy and Mahindra Scorpio. Remember the hotel parking lot where Shahrukh had parked his Ferrari 360 Modena.
