Tips to Prevent Car Tyre rupture

In the recent years there has been many new car models entering the Indian car market. But as we all know that the Indian roads are still premature in terms quality. India’s growing vehicle population depends to a great extent of good quality roads.

The Indian road conditions are pitiable due to their exposure towards cuts and bruises. So the worn out tyres have more chances of moisture seeping into steel belts leading to rust and consequent loss of adhesion with rubber resulting in frequent tyre burst.

Tyre Burst

A Tyre Burst occurs due to mechanical deterioration of tyre material, consequently weakening its structure which suddenly results in a sudden and violent release of the air.

Therefore, the car owner needs to take some precautionary steps to prevent burst of car tyres. Here is a list of tips to avoid car tyre bursts:
  • Do not get distracted when driving on the roads because you will not know when you can find a pothole or ditches which are many a times found on the middle of the road.
  • When you drive your vehicle up a kerb, through a pothole that you could have avoided but didn’t notice and pressed against a kerb. But if this is not taken care of and no proper tyre pressure checks are made. Then this may also lead to tyre bursts.
  • Proper blowout is very essential to avoid burst out of tyres.

  • There is one more tip that can be followed for a rear wheel drive car by pulling the parking brake on and off repeatedly that can help not to lock the back wheels.
  • When you notice that there is tyre burst in your vehicle then the most important thing would be to drive on the tyre very slowly to a safe place. And you should not attempt to go any further than is completely needed.
  • If there is enough trunk space keep a spare tyre and always keep your speed down as the car will not be as stable as with the full size tyre.
  • Regular check of blow in your tyre tubes is very important which might also lead to burst in tyres.
  • Water can also damage roads quickly. When you come across water covering the road, drive carefully and estimate the depth with a stick before you proceed. Extreme care should be taken at river or creek crossings which also might lead to sudden burst on car tyres.

However one needs to consider the fact that tyres are the only means of communication with the road. They can either save your life or put you in danger. So the best option would be choosing the right kind of tyres and maintain and check them at regular intervals.
