Glory of Three Pointed Star in India

Three pointed star, a symbol of Mercedes-Benz, is winning appreciation and accolades across India in the luxury car segment.

Mercedes-Benz has been the pioneer of the luxury car segment in India, a company that made its venture in the country past 50 years. The relationship between India and the company dates back to 1950s when Mercedes with local collaboration introduced trucks in the country. This German company entered the Indian passenger car market as a set up of joint venture between Daimler-Benz and Telco in 1994. Since then, the company is delighting Indian car buyers with depth of choices and upmarket features.

With the advent of technology and increasing demand of luxury cars among Indian car buyers, the company gradually developed a world class dealer network across the country. It also became first OEM in India with a 100% ISO certified dealer network. For 5 consecutive years, the company also has won the quality award for the 'Best Mercedes-Benz Production Plant' outside Germany.

The first passenger car by Mercedes made its inception in 1995. This car known as Mercedes-Benz E -Class became one of the most successful car models worldwide. Next in line was the launch of Mercedes-Benz E –Class in 1998.

After the 1990s when industrialization was slowly moving towards globalization, the company launched top-of-the-line E 240 petrol car and the new E 220 CDI diesel version in 2000.Later in the same year, the company also introduced Mercedes-Benz S-Class - S320 L automatic.

The year 2000 was again a delighted year for the company, when the company launched the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class-E-240 petrol version. This launch was considered to frame the future of automotive in India. In April 2001, Mercedes-Benz launched another techno marvel in the luxury car segment. This was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a car that truly reflects a blend of comfort, luxury, and elegance.


In early 2003, diesel version of E-220 was introduced following to which E-220 petrol version and S-350 petrol was introduced successfully in the market. Mercedes-Benz E-200 Kompressor launched in 2004 was another car pointing towards the future of Indian automotive industry.

The biggest bang in the luxury car segment was the launch of Mercedes-Benz Maybach in 2004, a car that was considered to be a new standard in the high-end luxury class. Thereafter, the company has launched many successful siblings in the Indian car industry.

In the present era, Indian car market has an extensive range of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars comprising S-Class, E-Class, M-Class, C-Class, SLK-Class, CLS-Class, CL-Class and the Maybach. Recently, the company has also introduced the C 63 AMG to India.

Apart from launching a number of successful cars in the Indian car market, the company also holds other priorities. Social and environmental responsibilities are an integral part of Mercedes-Benz operations in India. In regards to these responsibilities, the company is actively involved in 'The Jatropha Biodiesel Project', Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids, Automotive Education, and Road Safety Project for Children.

Mercedes-Benz India has lived a golden years in the Indian car industry with status. The key motive of the company is to produce high-end luxury cars meeting the needs, desires and expectations of every changing generation.
