Formula One Racing Circuits - Part 2

We present you here with the second part of the Formula one Racing Circuits article.

bullet Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace - Brazil (Length -   4.309 km)

Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace - Brazil (Length - 4.309 km)Also known by its formerly known name, Interlagos, it is named after Brazilian Formula One Driver, Carlos Pace, who had died prior to its naming. It is popular for being the venue of the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix.

The original race track was as long as 7.829 km which was later reduced to 4.309 km, to meet the new FIA track length regulations. As a result of this, the track lost some its fast curves and long straight sections. Many racing drivers consider this a very interesting track because, rather than a flat terrain, it is built on hilly ground with a lot of ups and downs. It is one of the very few non-oval racing circuits to go in an anti-clockwise direction.

Fastest lap on this circuit has been achieved by Juan Pablo Montoya (1 min 11.473 sec)

bullet Korean International Circuit - Yeongam (Length -   5.45 km)

Korean International Circuit - Yeongam (Length - 5.45 km)Designed by the famous German track designer Hermann Tilke, the Korean International Circuit will be making its debut during the 17th race in the 2010 Formula One season. The track is likely to be completed by July 2010, ahead of the race which will happen on 24th October 2010. The race will be on the F1 calendar unless the completion of the circuit is not up to the FIA's standards.

Not a lot has been divulged about the racing conditions of the track. Hence, it will be interesting to watch the F1 racing there. Considering that this track promises to be tricky and with only one straight note, it should be packed with fun and surprises.

bullet Marina Bay Street Circuit - Singapore (Length -   5.067 km)

Marina Bay Street Circuit - Singapore (Length - 5.067 km)Marina Bay Street Circuit, also known as the Singapore Street Circuit, is about 5.067 km long and is constructed around the city state's Marina Bay.

The track has been often criticised by F1 drivers to be excessively bumpy and without any run-off, with the added discomfort of the hot and humid conditions of the Singapore climate. Drivers also face the added difficulty of driving at night under floodlights. Once Lewis Hamilton said that, compared to the Monaco street circuit, the track was twice as difficult to negotiate and required double the physical energy.

Fastest lap record on this circuit is held by Kimi Raikkonen (1min 45.599 sec)

bullet Circuit de Monaco - Monte Carlo (Length - 3.34 km)

Circuit de Monaco - Monte Carlo (Length - 3.34 km)Commonly referred as 'Monte Carlo', this street circuit is laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine. The race circuit boasts of a number of twists, tight corners, elevation shifts and a narrow corner that makes it one of the best-loved and most demanding tracks in Formula One racing championships.

Considered to be one among the few circuits which test the real driving skills of the F1 drivers, it is also one of the most dangerous. So far, the circuit has claimed two lives, Luigi Fagioli and Lorenzo Bandini.

The fastest lap record is held by none other but our favourite Michael Schumacher (1min 14.439 sec)

bullet Autodromo Nazionale Monza - Italy (Length - 5.793   km)

Autodromo Nazionale Monza - Italy (Length - 5.793 km)One of the oldest venues for Formula One Championships, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, it is the biggest motor sports centre in Italy.

It is a high speed circuit with probably the lowest down-force settings and is marked for the fact that drivers go full throttle, thanks to its long straights. The circuit is also famous for being the spiritual home of the Scuderia Ferrari and their passionate supporters. This circuit has brought death warrants for a number of F1 drivers including the most recent Paolo Gislimberti (2000), who crashed during the Italian Grand Prix.

Fastest lap record is held by Rubens Barrichello (1 min 21.046 sec)

bullet Albert Park Circuit - Melbourne (Length - 5.303   km)

Albert Park Circuit - Melbourne (Length - 5.303 km)The Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit utilises the everyday sections of road that circle Albert Park Lake.

The usual consensus has it that the track is quite fast and easy to drive. F1 drivers have commented that the regularly placed corners make them learn the circuit pretty fast and allows for achieving competitive times. The flat terrain around the lake, combined with a design that features few straights, makes it all the more difficult for drivers to manage overtakes.Albert Park also has the unique feature of being the only venue to hold the Australian Grand Prix in both World Championship and non-World Championship formats.

Fastest lap record was achieved by Michael Schumacher (1 min 24.125 sec).
