Ford Fiesta
Ford Fiesta gets a ranking of 5 for adult safety, 4 for child safety and 3 for pedestrian safety.
It is believed that nearly 400 crash simulations were done during the development of Fiesta. The car ensures a safe drive equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and dual airbags. Dual airbags help to reduce the impact of crash force by distributing them evenly across the passenger's body. In India, low-speed frontal impact is a common feature and therefore the Fiesta is tested to ensure safety from this type of impact. It is found that the passenger compartment is not much affected by the impact and ensures good protection for both the driver and the passenger. The bumper of the car is so well designed that it scores good points for protecting the pedestrians.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord scores 5 for adult safety, 4 for child safety, and 3 for pedestrian safety in a rating of 5.
The all-new Honda Accord is considered to be one of the most safest cars both in terms of active and passive safety. The car has been crash tested in the development stage and is equipped with a host of
car safety technologies like six airbags, ABS, EBD, and a G-CON (G-FORCE Control Technology). G-CON technology helps to lower the impact of force in case of a car accident through energy absorbing zones. It also confirms pedestrian safety by controlling G-FORCE transferred from the car to the person in an incident of accident reducing the chances of injuries. All these safety features have helped the Accord to attain a commendable safety standard.
In addition, the use of high tensile steel in car body structure has improved the torsional rigidity and enhanced safety of the car as well as the passengers. It was tested that during a frontal collision, the passenger compartment remained stable, keeping the femurs and knees of the driver as well as the car passenger protected. The bumper of the car also scores good points for ensuring safety of the pedestrians during a frontal accident.
Skoda Fabia
Skoda Fabia has achieved a rating of 4, 3, and 2 for adult, child, and pedestrian safety, respectively.
The Fabia is an excellent car with a fantastic superior and unequivocal reaction to the driver’s commands. The rigid chassis structure, electro-hydraulic power steering, tuned suspension, anti-lock brakes with dual rate power brakes, and MSR engine brake torque regulator ensures a safe journey in all situations. In addition, the deformation zone in the chassis has been designed for optimal safety. Dual airbags for the driver and front seat passenger provide cushioning in case of a frontal or side impact. Additionally, the car also has mountings for fitting child seats into the rear car seats.
Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V came out with excellent 4 stars for the adult rating, 4 star for child safety, and 3 for the pedestrian rating.
Talking about the passive safety, the car is structured with an advanced G-CON technology that helps absorb maximum crash energy and disperse it evenly. This reduces the actual car-to-car damage caused during the collision. In addition, the front dual airbags help to safeguard the heads and chests of the driver as well as the front passenger. For active safety measures, the CR-V is equipped with anti-lock brakes,
electronic brake force distribution system, and projector headlights that increases the driver's visibility.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara gets a score of 4 for adult safety, 3 for child safety, and 3 for pedestrian safety. This car comes extensively loaded with a host of active and passive car safety features.
The Grand Vitara is adorned with the Suzuki Total Safety that comprises a unique monocoque body structure which gives greater stability and improved rigidity at all speeds under every driving condition. In addition, the Sure Stop Braking System (SSBS) in combination with the anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, and brake assist prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking.
Driver's and front passenger airbags helps to achieve the optimum absorption and dispersion of crash energy. Further to that, the rear crumple zone, collapsible steering column, and active head restrain works in tandem to improve safety standards and ensure higher safety of the driver as well as the passengers.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti Suzuki Swift scores 4 for adult safety, 3 for child safety, and 3 for pedestrian safety.
The car is designed with a rigid and strong body structure with minimal deformation in case of a frontal impact. It is loaded with the dual front airbags, front car seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiters, and energy absorbing trim. Anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, and a brake assist system makes the car one of the safest set of wheels on road today.
New Honda City
Though the all-new Honda City has still not ranked by Euro NCAP, the car is considered to have an excellent safety standards in all aspects. It is loaded with a pack of high-end car safety features to ensure a safe journey not only for the passengers but also for others sharing the road.
Safety for both the passengers and pedestrians have always been Honda's first priority. The car comes loaded with a variety of active and passive safety features including the anti-lock brakes, dual SRS airbags, brake assist, pre-tensioner car seat belts, and G-Force Control technology. All these features work in tandem to offer a crush proof survival and a safer journey under all driving and weather situations.
The front body structure of the new Honda City provides enhanced safety for pedestrians. This safety feature of the car is tested under real life conditions using Honda's own POLAR II human dummies.
